Verizon Backbone Trouble

Hello All,

If you are experiencing intermittent phone issues, dropped calls, inability to receive or make calls, they are due to a Verizon backbone issue that has affected a number of clietns and carriers. Verizon technicians are aware and currently working on fixing the problem. Please bear with us as they attempt to fix the issue and check back on the blog for updates.

From any display phone.

Press the speaker key
Dial 800
Enter Extension number to be changed
Enter new name (up to 12 digits) using the keypad (see chart below)
Press hold to save.
Press the speaker key to end

Blinking light on top of phone display NEC UX5000

Two reasons the light on top of your screen might be blinking or on steady.

You do not have a voicemail key programmed and the voicemail is alerting you of a new message. Simply dial *8 and check your mailbox.
Message waiting has been activated.
To cancel:
leave handset hung up
press call1 key
dial 873
press speaker key

How to set-up conference call on NEC UX5000 system.

To Setup a conference call:

With one person already on the line press the CONF key when ready.
DO NOT PRESS HOLD
-This action will place the caller on hold and return intercom dialtone to you.

Make the call to the person you want to join in on the conference. Once they pick up on their end, press CONF key twice to join all together.

Accessing Voicemail on Aspire Phone System

Accessing Voicemail From Your Telephone:
Press MSG Key
You will be asked for your security code
Default Security Code is 1234
From Another Telephone In the Office:
Dial Voice Mail Extension 700
You will be prompted for your mailbox number
Dial Mailbox Number (same as extension)
Enter Security Code if asked

From Outside the Office if you have a DID (Direct Inward Dial):
Dial your Direct Dial Number
When you hear your greeting
Press # to log on to your mailbox

First Time Logon Tutorial:
When you access your mailbox for the first
time, the system will play a recorded announcement and tutorial to guide
you in setting up your voicemail for the first time. The tutorial will only
play the first time you log into your mailbox. You will be asked to record
your personal greeting, record your name for the company directory, and
set up a new security code (up to 6 digits).

How to change time on a NEC Vanguard voice mail.

Do the following without lifting the handset or pressing any other keys first.
From extension 300, dial #TD (#83).
Enter the time in 24-hour clock using hours (2 digits), minutes (2 digits)
and seconds (2 digits).
Press HOLD.
Enter the date using month (2 digits), day (2 digits), and year (4 digits).
Press HOLD, then SPK to exit.

A 66 Block is used to terminate primarily voice station cables, rarely data cables so that they can be cross connected either a phone system or telco lines.
